Love Letter: Three Dealbreakers – The New York Times

After Sherilyn Siy’s third quasi date with a man named Charles, she wrote him an email. In it, she outlined three reasons her parents would never approve of him: “You are not Chinese. You are 16 years older than me. You have a daughter out of wedlock.”

Despite these three apparent dealbreakers, Ms. Siy found herself falling for Charles. She wrote about their unexpected romance in her Modern Love essay, “You Bought the Wrong Nipple Clamps.”
